Job Description: Compliance Officer
Property Compliance Officer, Cardiff
The Property Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that all properties within our clients’ managed portfolio remain fully compliant with statutory, regulatory and health and safety requirements.
Working closely with property managers, contractors, and stakeholders, the role involves coordinating compliance inspections and risk assessments, monitoring and tracking remedial actions, managing contractor compliance documentation and maintaining accurate records. By proactively overseeing compliance activities, the Coordinator helps minimise risk, safeguard residents, and support the highest standards of property management across all managed developments.
Main duties as Property Compliance Officer:
- Schedule and coordinate statutory inspections, risk assessments, and compliance audits across the managed portfolio.
- Monitor, track and follow up on remedial actions arising from inspections, ensuring all works are completed within required timescales.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date compliance records, certificates, and associated documentation.
- Manage contractor compliance, including verification of insurance, accreditations, qualifications, and certification renewals.
- Liaise effectively with Property Managers, clients, contractors, and residents to resolve compliance-related matters and provide updates where required.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, including fire safety, asbestos management, water hygiene, electrical safety, and lift regulations.
- Prepare and distribute compliance reports, identifying potential risks, compliance gaps, and areas requiring corrective action.
- Support internal audits, external inspections and regulatory reviews, ensuring all required information is readily available.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of compliance processes, procedures, and best practices.
Experience Required as a Property Compliance Officer:
- A minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in a compliance-related role, ideally within Estate Agency / the Property sector.
- Preferably a good understanding of UK property and health & safety compliance requirements, including fire safety legislation, the Building Safety Act, and Section 20 consultation processes.
- Proven ability to manage multiple compliance workstreams, deadlines, and regulatory requirements simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail with a meticulous approach to record-keeping, data management, and document control.
